Modern Warfare
Battalion and brigade-level command for the modern battlefield. Combined arms, logistics, and the fog of war — all at your fingertips.
Rules Overview
Combat Action Command places players in the role of battalion and brigade commanders managing fire, movement, and logistics under realistic command friction. The system uses an innovative activation sequence that rewards sound tactical planning and punishes overextension. Each turn represents approximately 15 minutes of real time, with units representing companies and platoons operating within a command radius framework.
Key Features
Units must remain within command radius of their headquarters or suffer activation penalties. Realistic command friction shapes every decision.
Infantry, armour, artillery, and air assets each have distinct roles. Combined arms cooperation is rewarded; isolated arms are punished.
Ammunition and fuel are tracked at the battalion level. Overextended units risk running dry at the worst possible moment.
Hidden movement and intelligence rules mean you rarely have a complete picture of the battlefield — just like the real thing.
From the Designer
Combat Action Command grew out of frustration with modern wargame systems that either oversimplify command and control or drown players in administrative detail. The goal was a system that captures the genuine friction of modern combined-arms command without requiring a staff officer to play. After twelve years of development and playtesting with active and retired military personnel, I believe we have achieved that balance.
